The sculptor Kurt Arentz, Consul B. John Zavrel and German President Johannes Rau in Berlin.

Born in Gurein (Kurim), Czechoslovakia, August 2, 1949; arrived to the United States 1969, U.S. citizenship 1975.

Son of Bohuslav Zavrel and Radoslava Holubik

Married Sandra McCracken, May 20, 1972; children: Wesley John Zavrel, Christopher Scott Zavrel, Thomas William Zavrel.

His ancestors came to Moravia from Bohemia; they were descendants of members of the Unitas Fratum--Bohemian Brethren (in USA known as Moravian Brethren), associated with the Count Nicholas Ludwig von Zinzendorf (1700-1760), being among the founding settlers of the village of Zinsendorf, near Brünn (Brno) in Moravia.
