Präsident John F. Kennedy wurde bei seinem Besuch 1963 in der Bundesrepublik zuerst von Bundespräsident Heinrich Lübke in der Bundeshauptstadt Bonn empfangen. Das Bild zeigt die Staatsmänner gemeinsam mit Bundeskanzler Konrad Adenauer (Bild Mitte), US-Außenminister Dean Rusk und Bundesaußenminister Gerhard Schröder vor der Villa Hammerschmidt in Bonn. Für Kennedy waren es zuerst „Deutschlands alte Männer". Dazu gehörte auch Bundeswirtschaftsminister und späterer Kanzler Ludwig Erhard. Doch bei seinem Abflug war Kennedy bewusst geworden, dass diese christdemokratischen Deutschen zu den verlässlichsten und mutigsten Verbündeten der USA gehörten. For our article, see John F.
