Das „Weiße Haus am Rhein" war am 25. September 2014 der Ort des Jubiläums: 40 Jahre Deutsche Krebshilfe". Dort hatte die Ärztin Mildred Scheel als Ehefrau des deutschen Bundespräsidenten die Hilfsorganisation im Kampf gegen den Krebs gegründet. Sie ist durch die Solidarität und die Spendenbereitschaft der Menschen zur größten Bürgerbewegung gegen Krebs in Europa geworden.
