Swami Veda is sending his leading disciple, Pandit Hari Shankar Dabral to start a new chapter of his life in Minneapolis this fall. He will be greatly missed by his very active group of yoga and meditation students in Calgary, Canada.

Born in Dehradun, India in a family of Sanskrit scholars, he has inherited the teachings of yoga philosophy and mantra science as a family tradition. He holds a Ph.D. in Sanskrit from the University of Garhwal. A disciple of Swami Rama of the Himalayas, he has been trained by Swami Veda Bharati for the past 16 years and has assisted him in a number of capacities--in the areas of research, teaching meditation and lecturing. An inspiring international speaker, he spends his time traveling, lecturing and guiding students in meditation in various Centers throughout North America, Europe and Asia. Dr. Pandit Dabral is a kind-hearted, charismatic, energetic person who will bring new vitality to the Meditation Center in Minneapolis. He has the unique ability to convey the complex teachings of yoga and meditation in a clear and conscise manner.

He has been recently appointed by Swami Veda to serve as Spiritual Director for the newly formed ASSOCIATION OF HIMALAYAN YOGA MEDITATION SOCIETIES. This Association coordinates the activities and teachings of the various Himalayan Yoga Meditation Centers around the world.

Pandit Dabral's presence in the United States, to be based in Minneapolis, but lecturing all across the United States, will increase the number of people being introduced to the philosophy, science and practice of yoga as taught to us by our Gurudev, Swami Rama of the Himalayas.

To better serve these goals, the Meditation Center has recently purchased another building (ashram), to be able to provide additional classes and programs. It will serve to house the offices of the Association of Himalayan Yoga Meditation Societies, and Pandit Dabral and his family will also live in this ashram.

The Association of Himalayan Yoga Meditation Societies is devoted to:

a) Teaching yoga and meditation texts, history, philosophy, and practical applications in accordance with the tradition of the Himalayan Masters as interpreted by Swami Rama of the Himalayas;

b) To help and serve the needy in all parts of the world;

c) To facilitate the sharing of endeavors that are of common interest to further the teachings of Swami Rama of the Himalayas.

Your help is needed to support this important new initiative. If you are able to help us with the purchase of the new ashram, please send your tax deductible donation to:

The letter from Swami Veda follows:

Dear Friends and Initiates,

The need for more space has been expressed to me for many years and will serve as an opportunity for people in the community to grow spiritually in an ashram setting. The Spiritual Director of the ashram shall be Dr. Pandit Dabral, who is known to many as next to this self in carrying out the spiritual work mandated by Swami Rama of the Himalayas.

The Association of Himalayan Yoga Meditation Societies have pooled their resources together toward the purchase of this building, which is just seven blocks from the present Meditation Center.

We look forward to your generous donation and participation in supporting this unique opportunity to grow and serve.

With blessings,

Yours in service of humanity and divinity,

Swami Veda Bharati
