Bronze Sculpture "Young Lovers" by Josef Thorak

"Young Lovers" is the name of this noble bronze sculpture of the German sculptor Josef Thorak (7.2.1889-26.2.1952).

It comes from the year 1942, and has been now made available in a limited edition. One exeplaire is in the "Josef Thorak Archives" of the European Art Foundation der Berlin (info@europaeische-kultur-stiftung.org).

In this sculpture, Thorak combines the classical tradition with a contemporary eroticism of his era. Thorak was after Arno Breker the most famous German sculptor of the years from 1930 to 1945. During this time, these other artists were especially successful: Georg Kolbe, Käthe Kollwitz, Richard Scheibe, Adolf Wamper, Klimsch and others.
